Trump knows his stuff … leftist columnist wants Cuomo as Biden’s running mate … others seeking VP spot … running mate choice least of Dem’s worries … second opinion sought on reopening economy … the nursing home tragedy … and something to ponder

Here are my observations and opinions from my select news of the day.

TRUMP KNOWS HIS STUFF – While watching Maria Bartiromo’s interview with President Trump last week, I commented to Mrs. Kramer about his knowledge of a wide-range of topics, and asked, “can you imagine Biden doing an interview like this?”  I think about that every time I listen to him in one of his 45-minute plus press conferences.

I was reminded of that when I came across a piece, “On the economy, Trump, unlike Obama, actually knows his stuff,” in the blog, Bookwork Room.

“Indeed, he is not given to mellifluous phrases, big word, and artful pauses,” the Bookworm says.  “Trump aims his speech to about the 7th grade reading level,” but for his opponents, who mistake him for someone with a 7th grade intelligence or knowledge level, they are deluding themselves.”

“Trump understands deals, money, and the stock market, yet he always speaks in simple language,” the Bookworm notes.

Recalling a May 2009 press conference, he contrasted Trump with Barack Obama, who said, “Profit and earnings ratios are starting to get to the point where buying stocks is a potentially good deal if you’ve got a long-term perspective on it.”

“Doesn’t that sound good?  Erudite? It’s way more sophisticated in tone than anything a 7th grader would say, right?  Wrong,” the Bookworm commented on Obama. There’s no such thing as “profit and earnings ratios.”

It’s likely nobody around Obama knew he had erred when he should have said “price/earnings ratio” or P/E ratio.

Listen to how Trump speaks about trade and the stock market.  “He was bred to that,” says the Bookworm, “He knows what he’s talking about, how it works, and how his policies will affect it.”

He writes of Obama’s fundamental ignorance of the marketplace, and that he hasn’t earned money by creating product or wealth for others.

DON’T YOU JUST LOVE IT? – Lefty syndicated columnist Froma Harrop wants Joe Biden to pick New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo to be his running mate.

The fact that Biden has pledged to name a woman as his vice presidential running mate, “was an unfortunate wade into the politically treacherous waters of identity politics,” she writes.  While Biden said it was “important” that a woman be his running mate, she adds, “it’s not important to me.”

“Could Biden retreat from his vow to choose a female running mate?,” she poses and answers, “Yes … and the women in contention would surely understand.” I’m not so sure about that.  Stacey Abrams insists that the running mate must not only be a woman, she must be black.

“None of the women Biden has been interviewing has Cuomo’s executive experience and star power,” she declared.

NOW GET THIS – Of course, Harrop fails to mention in her column, Cuomo’s outrageous March 25, 2020 executive order in which he insisted that nursing homes admit patients with the virus. Some 5,400 patients died in New York nursing homes, a third of all virus deaths, many of which surely died because of his policy. He bungled it.

Republican Rep. Elise Stefanik of upstate New York has demanded a federal probe into his handling of the virus, while referencing how the state quietly altered the way it publicly reports its nursing home deaths.

THERE’S MORE – Harrop concludes her column with “Cuomo could reassure Americans that if something were to happen to the president, the ship of state would sail smoothly on.  With that, you just know that the Democrats are concerned with Biden’s shaky appearances, in person during the primary campaign, and in his virtual video speeches.

IN TYPICAL LIBERAL FORM, Harrop couldn’t pass up her opportunity to slander the president, even though her column was about Cuomo being her choice to run with Biden.  She referred to President Trump, “obese and almost 74, hardly a picture of youthful vigor.”

JUST SAYING – I’m surprised former Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm has not surfaced as a possible running mate.  She was often on Barack Obama’s lists for various cabinet positions and even the Supreme Court.

KAMALA HARRIS, another woman being considered for the vice president slot with Joe Biden, took advantage of the presence of camera’s during her appearance on the Senate Homeland Security Committee Wednesday to gain some visibility.

“There are literally matters of life and death waiting for our committee’s attention, but instead this committee is doing the president’s personal bidding,” she said while the committee discussed a subpoena for Blue Star Strategies in an investigation of Hunter Biden’s relationship at the firm Burisma.

AMONG THE IMPORTANT THINGS on Kamala Harris’ mind was to designate that the use of the terms, “Wuhan Virus” or “Chinese Virus” is racist.  It’s so serious that she and two of her other lefty friends, Elizabeth Warren and Mazie Hirono, are sponsoring a bill on it.

BIDEN’S RUNNING MATE is the least of the party faithful’s worries.  While I recently mentioned that Biden had named Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez to co-chair his climate task force, he has allowed socialist Bernie Sanders to name a co-chair and three of the eight members of each of his six so-called “unity task forces.”

A SECOND OPINION – The Job Creators Network purchased full-page ad space for an open letter to Dr. Andrew Fauci, in the Wall Street Journal with the headline, “Dr. Fauci, We Need a Second Opinion!”

“You are the nation’s leading medical voice on how and when society reopens from pandemic -induced shutdown.  And while Americans appreciate your service, your voice represents one of many important perspectives in the medical field.  Just as American routinely seek a second opinion regarding any serious medical procedure, we need a second opinion on this urgent issue before us,” the letter, signed by the Network’s President and CEO Alfredo Ortiz.

Dr. Scott Atlas, former chief of neuroradiology at Stanford, who has recently made appearances on Fox News Channel, is quoted with “Let’s stop underemphasizing empirical evidence while instead doubling down on hypothetical models.  With sensible precautions and sanitization standards, most workplaces and business should reopen.”

New York emergency physician Daniel Murphy is quoted calling for reopening while noting “the growing numbers dying at home during the crisis, including fatal myocardial infarctions, asthma exacerbations, bacterial infections, and strokes.”

“This is not a question of life v. economy,” Ortiz states, “The real choice is Life v. Life.”  He concludes with an invitation to health care professionals to offer their opinion at FauciSecondOpinion.com.

Some Democrats are now pushing the concern over a second outbreak to scare Americans from participating in a reopening.  Thankfully, President Trump said there would not be another lockdown should that happen.  Any outbreak will be handled appropriately at the source.

BACK TO THE NURSING HOME ISSUE – Minnesota and Michigan are still admitting virus patients into nursing homes after being discharged from hospitals.  “Minnesota nursing homes, already the site of 81% of COVID-19 deaths, continue taking in infected patients,” reads the headline in the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Meanwhile, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer issued an executive order that requires nursing homes with less than 80 percent capacity will be forced to create special COVID units, regardless of their ability to protect the other patients.

Two other Democrat states, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, have had high numbers of deaths from the virus in nursing homes.  Sixty-eight percent of some 4,500 in the Keystone State.

SOMETHING TO PONDER – Statistics show that older Americans are likely voters in all elections and generally vote Republican.  Could this lack of concern for the lives of the elderly be behind the thinking in these Democrat states?  I know. That’s not fair, but frankly, Democrats don’t play fair.

May God continue to bless the United States of America.
