Members of august body not acting like it … Biden gets advice from Clintonista … nobody cares about Trump’s taxes … Biden’s either, I guess … voting troubles in Virginia, Texas and Minnesota … vote in person … Newsom’s electric car mandate questioned … and the debate

I’M ENJOYING THE PARADE OF DEM SENATORS who have announced that they won’t do the courteous thing by agreeing to talk with Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett before her confirmation hearings.  How pathetic.

Supposedly, they are members of an “august body” – the U.S. Senate.  August means “esteemed” or “respected,“ thus, august body is a phrase meant to flatter the members of the body.

Someone once observed that members of most legislative bodies are generally so incompetent that it is surprising they would believe it, but the fact seems to be that they are so unbelievably incompetent that they believe the speaker considers them august.

ANOTHER ENDORSEMENT FOR TRUMP’S REELECTION came from some 70 top level government officials who worked in several Republican administrations, including both Bush’s, Reagan, Ford and Nixon.  It comes just days following a similar endorsement from some 200 former senior military officers.

Citing Trump’s “significant foreign policy and national security accolades,” the group added that “we also believe that a president’s duty and loyalty are owed first and foremost, to the American people, and not the international community, which is consistent with strengthening our alliances and friendships.”

“President Trump has, in less than four years, achieved a remarkable number of successes on behalf of our nation,” said Deroy Murdock, who served under Reagan. “His opponents bristle at his methods, but the scoreboard speaks for itself.  America is winning and we want to keep winning – therefore, we urge our fellow Americans to vote for Donald Trump.”

REMEMBER LANNY DAVIS, the former special counsel for President Clinton and well-known television apologist for Hillary Clinton?  He’s surfaced to offer advice to Joe Biden in the debates.

“Most of all, remind America what they really want is a change and a hope in the future, away from chaos and personal vitriol and lies and tweets.  And back to unity, stability and decency.  That is exactly who you are, Joe.  Just be yourself.  It won’t even be close.”

Great advice from Davis, who reminds voters of eight years of hope and change under Obama-Biden.

I wonder, how many voters believe that the “chaos, personal vitriol, lies and tweets,” had a major effect on their lives, when they consider all that the president has accomplished.

“NOBODY REALLY CARES ABOUT TRUMP’S TAXES,” Jim Treacher writes in PJ Media, similar to my opinion provided in yesterday’s blog post.  “Does it matter?” he asks. “I would argue, Dear Reader, that it does not matter,” he concludes.

The thousands of words with figures from this year and that year in the New York Times are meaningless to most voters.  They’re still out to get Trump over not releasing his taxes, and they want to you to believe this is an earth-shattering story, saying “See, we told you.”  This is nothing considering what’s been thrown at the president since before his inauguration and the three plus years that followed.

WHILE ON THE SUBJECT OF TAXES, someone on the Internet recently pointed out that Joe Biden has been a federal employee for 40 years and his wife was a high school teacher.  What income sources resulted in them paying, according to filings, over $3.7 million in income tax?  And why isn’t anyone asking the question?

THE 2020 VOTE – The U.S. Elections Project announced that a record 1, 012,211 voters have already cast early ballots, according to data received from 25 states.  Some 200,000 Virginians have already voted in person, while nearly 250,000 North Carolinians have already cast their ballots by mail.

Some 1,400 Virginia voters in Fairfax County received two absentee ballots due to a printing problem that resulted in an employee sending out two ballots.  They were simply told to throw one away and that only one would be counted, according to the Daily Caller.

In Texas, a Biden campaign operative was caught in a massive ballot harvesting scheme involving some 700,000 ballots in Harris County.  Meanwhile, in that same county, the Public Interest Legal Foundation is looking into voting by people who were not citizens or were unregistered.

In Gregg County, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton arrested a Democrat county commissioner and three associates on charges of election fraud dating back to the 2018 election.

In Minnesota, an investigation into ballot harvesting in a Minneapolis apartment complex and seniors’ facility involving supporters of Democrat Rep. Ilian Omar is underway.

MY ADVICE:  Vote in person.  If you are able to go to a grocery store, you can go to your voting location.

ANOTHER FOOLISH CALIFORNIA MANDATE questioned.  Alexei Koseff @akoseff tweets: “In a letter, the U.S. EPA administrator (Andrew R. Wheeler) tells (California Gov.) Newsom that his executive order mandating only new electric car sales in California by 2035 may be illegal and questions the feasibility of the increase in demand in electricity when you can’t even keep the lights on today.”

FINALLY, as I prepare to publish this post, here are a couple thoughts on the first debate.  Although I am not a fan of Chris Wallace, I thought he would do well.  He didn’t.  I would give him a grade of “D.”  For example, he allowed Biden to ignore the question of his support of the Black Lives Matter movement. More important,  what did you learn from the debate?

Because the bar was set so low, the media will say Biden defeated Trump. They won’t mention that he told the president to “shut up” and called him a “clown.”

To quote Biden, “here’s the deal,” the former vice president is toast.  More to come.

May God continue to bless the United States of America.
