Commentary

I do considerable research of the media, in print and online, in an effort to produce a blog that gives you my commentary on what’s making news, and in the process, I often run across things I think you may have missed.  Here’s what I found.

Hillary’s Role in the Russia Smear

I almost didn’t read a Wall Street Journal op-ed about Hillary Clinton and the Russia hoax by Douglas Schoen and Andrew Stein, because both are Democrats, and I assumed it would consist of leftist talking points.  You may recall when Fox used to call on Schoen regularly to provide fair and balanced reporting.

Considering the source, I found the following paragraphs to be surprising:

“One of us (Mr. Schoen) worked with Mrs. Clinton during her 2000 Senate race and worked closely with President Clinton during his 1996 re-election campaign. In 1996, both Clintons had detailed knowledge of virtually every aspect of the campaign and the Whitewater investigation.  Mrs. Clinton is far more precise and organized than her husband, and she is meticulous about campaign spending.  It isn’t plausible that her campaign would have spent so much money without her knowing every major aspect of the undertaking – including how this information would be shared with federal authorities.

“Taken together, the revelations from the Sussman trial, the resources that went into the campaign’s attempt to tie Trump to Russia, the Clintons’ focus on October surprises, and their cordial relationship with the FBI, make it abundantly likely that Mrs. Clinton not only knew about, but led the entire smear campaign.”

Trumpology

Looking to the midterm election, Victor Davis Hanson offered his insight writing about, “The disaster that is the Biden administration has been a godsend for Trump.  Had President Biden simply plagiarized the successful Trump agenda, there would have been no border disaster, no energy crisis, no hyperinflation and no disastrous flight from Afghanistan.

“Had Biden followed through on his ‘unity’ rhetoric, he could have lorded over Trump’s successful record as his own, while contrasting his Uncle Joe ecumenicalism with Trump’s supposed polarization.  Of course, serious people knew from the start that was utterly impossible.  A cognitively challenged Biden was a captive of ideologues.”

“If”

“If the president were serious about inflation, he would green-light the Keystone pipeline fast-track any stalled oil leases and permits and work with Big Oil rather than knee-cap it at every opportunity.” –Stuart J. Zais, Lakewood Ranch, Florida

Not Convincing

Biden’s June 1, 2022 jobs report from Delaware was obviously designed to be an “upper” for Americans feeling the pinch of the increased prices of gasoline and food, as he spoke of “a healthy economy with steady growth, rising wages for working families, everyday costs easing up, and shrinking the deficit.”

His statement that, “A recent survey from the Federal Reserve found that more Americans feel financially comfortable than at any time since the survey began in 2013,” was typical Biden disinformation.  It came from a report about 2021, and even then, just 39 percent indicated they were “living comfortably.”

Actually …

… Americans are “deeply pessimistic” about the economy, and the ability to achieve the American dream, according to a Wall Street Journal/NORC poll, released just four days later, with 83 percent of the respondents saying the economy is “poor or not so good,” and 35 percent indicating they aren’t “satisfied at all with their financial situation – the highest level of dissatisfaction since 1972.

More Disinformation

Biden continues to boast about his creating of 8.7 million new jobs “since I took office – an all-time record.”  However, for the record those new jobs in the past 18 months were people who were laid off during the lockdowns, who are now returning to work.  We still have fewer jobs today than we did in early 2020.

The Kitchen Table

“I grew up in a family like many of you where the price of a gallon of gasoline went up, it was discussed at the kitchen table,” said Biden, however, gas prices were flat during his childhood.

By the way, I’m tired of hearing about the “kitchen table.” While it is generally considered important for families to eat dinner together, research shows that only 29 percent do so regularly.

“Out-of-Touch Joe”

“I became aware of this problem sometime in early April, about how intense it was.  We did everything in our power from that point on.  I don’t think anyone anticipated the impact of the shutdown of one facility,” said President Biden referencing the baby formula situation on June 1, 2022.

He wasn’t aware that Abbott of Sturgis, Michigan was one of only four companies responsible for an estimated 90 percent of the U.S. formula market?

We were told that agencies had been working around the clock since “day one” of the February recall, yet Biden was not informed of the seriousness of the issue until April.

Just 153 days until the midterms.  May God continue to bless the United States of America.
