Sharing the Comments of Others on the Political Scene

Commentary

I’ve been giving you my thoughts on the legal troubles facing former President Trump and President Biden’s trouble proving his competence for office.  As I attempt to stay on top of things, I read the comments of others and I thought I would share some of them with you.

The Cases Against Trump

Josef Stalin set the example for the world as the most ruthless practitioner of the art of using a thoroughly corrupt and subservient ‘justice system’ to eliminate all political opposition,” reminds Francis Menton in Manhattan Contrarian.

Reporting on those who have succumbed to the temptation and followed Stalin’s lead, he notes the irony in “how countries that engage in such practices virtually always have failed economies as well.”

He points out that while the U.S. has been remarkably free of such practices during history, we are now seeing a “sudden complete reversal” of that history with the effort of multiple political actors and prosecutors to use the courts to take down former President Trump.

The New York Civil Fraud Case

“NY Judge Tries to bleed Trump for all he’s worth.” – Vince Coglianese, Daily Caller

“Under New York Law, Trump cannot appeal this ruling without depositing the full amount (of the fine) including interest, in a court account … the most insidious provision in the ruling.” – Jonathan Turley, George Washington University law professor.

“I would never invest I New York now.  And I’m not the only person saying that.” – Kevin O’Leary, Investor and Shark Tank co-host

Fani Wills and the Georgia 2020 Election Case

“Totally unethical,” – Sol Wisenberg, former prosecutor, speaking of comments made by Fulton County DA Fani Willis

Describing Willis’ mid-January claim that racism was behind the allegations made against her as “disturbing,” and “very serious,” warranting her being taken off the base and to have the case dismissed.

“Much worse,” was her repeating the racist comment during her appearance in the oldest African-American church in Atlanta. “That is unquestionably unethical.”

There are further charges Judge McAfee will need to consider along with Willis’ unethical relationship with her lover/prosecutor Nathan Wade.

The Trump Campaign

“Some folks are burned out on outrage. People are tired. I think last election we were desperate to get Trump out of office, and folks were willing to rally around that singular call to action.  This election feels different.”  Rebecca Lee Funk, founder of Outrage, a progressive activism organization.

The Biden Campaign

Since I have been very critical of First Lady Jill Biden in past commentary, even repeating my belief that she is guilty of elder abuse, the comments of presidential historian Douglas Brinkley were of particular interest.

“She likes power.  She wants to stay.  She wants revenge. (She believes the White House) is her home.”  Douglas Brinkley on CBS’ Face the Nation

Then there’s this …

“It’s time for the White House to put up or shut up,” Nate Silver statistician, founder of the political website FiveEightyFour, commenting on the need for Biden to get serious campaigning or “stand down.”

and this

“Michigan autoworkers are worried that President Joe Biden’s policies pushing for a transition to electric vehicles (EV) will cost their jobs.”  – New York Times.

FINALLY, a bit of humor

Joe Biden was ranked as the 14th-best president in history … that’s better than Ronald Reagan, who was elected and reelected in national landslides – who came in 16th place in the 2024 Presidential Greatness Project Expert Survey.

The survey was conducted by political science professors Brandon Rottinghaus of the University of Houston and Justin Vaughn from Coastal Carolina University.

I’m not sure if Rottinghaus and Vaughn are considered the “experts,” but as Matt Margolis remarked, “These rankings are not only insulting but an indictment of blatantly biased academia.

Equally insulting is the 7th place ranking of Barack Obama. Strange, when you recall the title of Margolis’ 2016 book, “The Worst President in History: The Legacy of Barack Obama.”

Donald Trump? Oh, he was ranked the worst president in history in the survey.

May God continue to bless the United States of America.
