While Depicting Trump’s Funeral as Humor, Cartoonist Garry Trudeau Misses All of the Laughs Emanating from the Biden White House

Commentary

I am not a regular follower of Doonesbury, the leftist satirical cartoon created by Garry Trudeau, but I occasionally look to see what he’s up to while I scan the Sunday comics section.

Trudeau’s dislike of former President Trump is not only captured by showing his overweight frame and large mop of orange hair – that’s fair, but during his time in office, he has depicted Trump’s in many over-the-top situations, and it continues.… read more

Will the Johns Hopkins Report Restore Sanity Over Covid?

Commentary

(NOTE: I am not a doctor.  I only played one in a made-for-TV movie.  But I do possess a degree of common sense.)

Weeks ago, I decided I didn’t want to read one more story about Covid or the variants and stopped covering it in my blog.

I had it with the “experts,” – Fauci and all of the talking head doctors – featured on the networks and in newspapers. … read more

A Glimpse of News Emanating from Washington DC Reveals Politics as Usual

Commentary

The headlines alone give you a feel for topics currently on the media agenda, but I’ll give you a little back up to go with them.

The story behind The Spectator headline, “Are Kamala Harris’s days as VP numbered?” delves into the Washington whispers of a cunning plan to shunt Kamala on to the Supreme Court in order to bring in a more popular vice president, someone better prepared to take over should Biden win in 2024.… read more

My February Fool’s Day Recipient and Checking My Stack of Stuff

Commentary

MY FEBRUARY FOOL – While I can usually count on President Biden to take my monthly fool honors with one of his actions, Whoopi Goldberg, moderator for ABC’s The View, gets my dubious recognition for February Fool’s Day.

During a discussion about a novel that depicts the horrors of the Holocaust, Goldberg commented, “Well this is white people doing it to white people, so y’all gonna fight amongst yourselves. … read more

What Would You Be Willing to Pay for All-Renewable Energy? The Costs are Enormous

Commentary

Regular readers will recall that I have devoted a great deal of commentary on the subject of climate change, and the flawed effort to end our dependence on fossil fuels in favor of renewable sources like solar and wind.

I have noted surveys showing strong pubic support for wind and solar energy, but there was always that doubt about just how much they would be willing to pay more for it. … read more

Biden More Interested in Ukraine’s Sovereignty Than That of the United States

Commentary

NOTE TO READERS: If you’ve noticed that you haven’t been receiving my blog as often as in the past, it’s because I had to resolve a delivery issue with the firm I use to e-mail it to you. It wasn’t initially apparent that there was a problem, and it appears that you may not have received my last six posts. read more

Look … President Biden Held a Press Conference

Commentary

On 17 occasions during President Biden’s press conference remarks Wednesday, he sought our attention, saying “look,” as if what followed would be something of note. It usually wasn’t.

Among them were, “look, we’re not there yet … look, I’m a capitalist … look, I didn’t overpromise … well look, as you know … look, I’ve laid out … look, I still contend … look, think of what we did … look, what I said …” and “look, I made it clear …” but perhaps “look, maybe I’m kidding myself …” was the most telling.… read more

More from My Stack of Stuff

Commentary

WHILE THE DOJ IS SO OBSESSED with domestic terrorism caused by extremist white supremacists that it has formed a special unit equipped with massive resources to address it, they’ve taken their eye off anti-Semitic threats.

Anti-Semitic attacks have grown since the 2018 killing of 11 people in the Tree of Life synagogue shooting in Pittsburgh.… read more

Elizabeth Warren Again Surfaces ‘Profit’ as a Dirty Word

Commentary

Years ago, I recall reading about a survey in which Americans believed businesses made on average profits of 36 percent, an estimate supported by years of similar polls by Opinion Research when estimates ranged from 28 to 37 percent.

A recent review of more than 7,000 companies revealed that the average profit margin for all companies was 7.9 percent, and just one industry had a profit margin as high as 36 percent – tobacco at 43.3 percent.… read more
