Did you hear the one about no scandals in the Obama White House?

“I’m proud of the fact that basically you’ve had an administration that’s been in place for six years in which there hasn’t been a major scandal … and I think that says a lot about the ethical strictures of this administration.” – David Axelrod, former advisor to President Obama

Those were the words of Axelrod during a session at the University of Chicago’s Institute of Politics. … read more

What’s in the Delaware water? Biden, and now Coons

“Seventy percent of Americans in a recent national poll also said they want a carbon tax or they want the EPA to be able to regulate Carbon Dioxide.” – Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE)

You may have missed this astonishing statement made by Senator  Chris Coons on Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace.  Disappointingly, it went unchallenged by Wallace. How many viewers do you suppose thought Coons’ statement was truthful?

Sen. Chris Coons, appearing on Fox News Sunday, said 70 percent of Americans want a carbon tax. Not! Wonder if he believes in the tooth fairy. (foxnews.com)

I thought some background would be helpful for you to understand where his statement originated.

In December 2012, Friends of the Earth (FOE) contracted with the Mellman Group to do what they called a “national survey” by telephone.  You are aware of the FOE, but may not be familiar with Mellman, which has a long history of polling for Democrats, including Harry Reid, Barbara Boxer, Al Franken and Carl Levin.  They have also done work for the Sierra Club, the World Wildlife Fund and a host of unions, including the NEA and the AFL-CIO.

Mellman pollsters were able to determine the respondent’s political leaning in the opening question, asking if they had a favorable or unfavorable impression of Barack Obama, environmental groups, Wall Street banks, Democrats in Congress, Republicans in Congress and companies that emit carbon pollution.

Then the pollster asked, “Which is a better way to reduce the nation’s deficit – Tax carbon pollution from big polluters such as oil, gas and other companies, or cut spending on programs like education, Social Security, Medicare and environmental protection?”  Well, duh! Continue reading

Obama’s warm-up for State of the Union address

Understanding that many of you may not have noticed, President Obama made stops in three states this week to do warm-up speeches in preparation for his State of the Union address, here are the low-lights.

Speaking at a Ford plant in Detroit, he again credited his steps to rescue the economy and rebuild it on a new foundation, stating that we are entering the New Year with new confidence that America is coming back.

“You don’t have to take my word for it.  The facts are the facts,” he stated while touting his administration’s statistics on job creation and unemployment.

Missing, however, was his glowing vision of the electric car market.  Could it be the reason that Ford and the other manufacturers have fallen far short of his goal of having a million of them on the road by 2015?  Some 850,000 short.

Having “invested” $8 billion in taxpayer funds, the president quietly shelved his goal.  The lower price of gas at the pump is sure to further reduce electric car sales. Continue reading

You got us into this mess, Mr. President, with your 2008 grand plan to fundamentally transform the United States of America.

Now, if you are as smart as your people say you are, you’ll drop the “I’ve got a veto pen arrogance” and allow Republicans to help you salvage your last two years.

China reneges on climate accord

There they were, President Obama and Chinese President Xi Jinping, all smiles during last month’s APEC summit meeting in Beijing, after signing a commitment to limit greenhouse gas emissions by 2025-2030.

The sight of the two leaders agreeing on the reduction of fossil fuels had to thrill the low-information crowd and, of course, the “greenies.” … read more

Alternative energy costing us billions

Typically, the average individual pays little attention when the EPA announces it’s  preparing to release new energy regulations as it did last month.  Figures on ppb (parts per billion), job equivalents, compliance costs, and the effect on gdp (gross domestic product) are lost on most of us.

I have a hunch, however, that the two accompanying headlines appearing in the past two days just might get their attention. When the cost of alternate energy production hits homeowners, they’ll begin to question the bill of goods promoted by big government.

WSJ HeadAR Head0019“Thirty years and billions of dollars later, the wind industry is still saying it needs taxpayer support,” according to the Wall Street Journal, as economic viability is still years off.  Wind energy lobbyists are seeking a renewal of the production tax credit, where taxpayers have, probably unbeknownst to them, contributed $7.3 billion over the past seven years.  I’m sure the wind power generator manufacturers and wind producers appreciate how gullible we are. Our community organizer is taking us into an “unwar” against an enemy of “non-Islamists”

In the hours leading up to any major presidential address, the media starts their countdown – we’re just six hours, five hours, four hours … from President Obama’s speech on the ISIS threat. It’s followed by the question posed to some member of Congress – what does the president have to say tonight?  Last night was no different.

The president missed his opportunity again, but I wasn’t disappointed because after six years of his presidency I no longer expect him to say the right thing.

He started his speech with the usual “we took out Osama bin Laden” and reminded us of his mistake in bringing Americans home from Iraq and his plan to do the same win Afghanistan. Most military leaders say that a contingent of troops left in Iraq could have prevented the ISIS push across the Syrian border.

Some blame Obama’s failure to get a status of forces agreement in Iraq, but he didn’t really try to get one, because he didn’t want one. He sold his base on getting out of Iraq beginning in 2007 and has never wavered from that agenda. Continue reading

Kerry, Clinton rank climate change #1 threat

Two former secretaries of state, John Kerry and Hillary Clinton took to microphones this past week to push their belief that climate change is a bigger threat than radical Muslim extremists, despite the fact that Americans disagree.

John Kerry turns to the Bible for guidance to push the threat of global climate change. (thefederalistpapers.org)

For Kerry, it was his second attempt to convince us.  On Feb. 16, 2014, speaking primarily to an audience of students in Jakarta, Kerry said “climate change can now be considered another weapon of mass destruction, perhaps the world’s most fearsome weapon of mass destruction.”  He went on to say that when he thinks of global threats – terrorism, epidemics, poverty, the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction – the reality is that climate change ranks right up there with every single one of them.”

In Hawaii last month, Kerry called climate change “the biggest challenge of all that we face right now.”

On Sept. 2, 2014, at a ceremony to promote Shaarik Zafar, a Texas attorney, to be a special representative of the Muslim Communities, he said, “confronting climate change is, in the long run, one of the greatest challenges that we face, and you can see this duty or responsibility laid down the scriptures, clearly, beginning in Genesis.” Kerry believes our respect for God’s creation translates into a duty to protect and sustain His first creation, Earth.  Why did Kerry choose this venue to make this pronouncement?  He believes “Muslim-majority countries are among the most vulnerable” when it comes to the impact of climate change.”

And this is our foreign policy negotiator. Continue reading
