Special: Reflection on the origin of the hate-Trump mantra

Here are my observations on the origin of the hate generated against Donald Trump and where it all ends.

Never before have we seen the blatant hate exhibited against a U. S. president as we have seen with President Donald Trump. Former presidents have all faced opposition, but nothing compared to that hurled at President Trump.

It actually began when he announced his candidacy, when that became merely a laughing matter. Seriously, Donald Trump the president of the United States?

After he defeated 16 Republican candidates and became the nominee who would oppose the preordained president, Hillary Clinton, a number of people in Obama’s Deep State went about their effort to prevent his election, and when that failed, to bring down his presidency.

A special counsel was engaged to determine whether he colluded with Russia to win the presidency, but when he failed to uncover evidence of that, the opposition turned to Plan B … more investigations.

What’s behind the opposition? Yes, there are those who are disappointed with his personality, his behavior that they say is unpresidential. Remember, that voters knew Trump’s shortcomings when they the put him in office. And they saw him keep 99 percent of his promises while facing those who want to obstruct him.

TRUMP’S INAUGURAL ADDRESS set the jaws of Old Washington. (college.usatoday.com)

One only needs to look back to the early passages of his inaugural address. He opened with: “We the citizens of America, are now joined in a great national effort to rebuild our country and to restore its promise for all of our people.

“Together, we will determine the course of America and the world for years to come.

“We will face challenges. We will confront hardships. But we will get the job done.”

SO FAR SO GOOD, but then came the zingers that set the jaws of Old Washington.

Todays ceremony, however, has very special meaning. Because today we are not merely transferring power from one administration to another, or from one party to another … we are transferring power from Washington D.C. and giving it back to you, the American people.

“For too long, a small group in our nation’s capital has reaped the rewards of government while the people have borne the cost.

“Washington flourished, but the people did not share in its wealth.

“Politicians prospered, but the jobs left, and the factories closed.

“The establishment protected itself, but not the citizens of our country.

“Their victories have not been your victories; their triumphs have not been your triumphs; and while they celebrated in our nation’s capital, there was little to celebrate for struggling families all across of land.

“That all changes – starting right here, and right now, because this moment is your moment … it belongs to you.”

THEN, TWO-THIRDS INTO HIS ADDRESS:

“We will no longer accept politicians who are all talk and no action – constantly complaining but never doing anything about it.

“The time for empty talk is over

“Now arrives the hour of action.”

Those politicians, including some Republicans, didn’t like what they heard and are now resisting his every move.

WHEN DOES THE HATE STOP? Surely, not during the 2020 campaign. Apology Joe Biden Tuesday morning referred to the president as an “existential threat.” Really, Joe? A threat to our very existence and survival? And that’s just from Biden.

Bernie Sanders called the president a “racist, sexist, homophobe, xenophobe and religious bigot.”

THE PRESIDENT, TOO will continue to apply colorful names to his opponents; but names that are not as divisive as the Biden and Sanders name-calling above.

THE PRESIDENT’S REELECTION isn’t likely to change things unless we can win back the House.
