Here are my observations and opinions from my selected news of the day.
KUDOS TO OUR STREET FIGHTER PRESIDENT – In July, after noting an American Thinker piece, “Our President is a Street Fighter,” I wrote, thank goodness we have a president in Donald Trump, who is a street fighter. I respected George W. Bush, but he didn’t fight back. Republicans always seemed to operate on defense, forgetting that a good defense requires a good offense.
President Trump is punching back against Democrats and their water-carrying members of the media over the Ukraine issue and the latest effort to impeach – defense – while vigorously challenging them on offense.
Some people think that’s a mistake. I disagree. And so does the individual (sorry, I didn’t get his name) interviewed in a Hampton, Minnesota diner on Fox & Friends Thursday morning, who liked Trump’s street fighter approach.
The latest Hill-Harris survey revealed Wednesday that his approval has ticked up to 49 percent despite the impeachment talk.
The media can be indignant over his attack mode, during which he hits back at their fake news, and calls out a reporter (Mike Allen of AXIOS) for being rude, but his supporters like it.
“We are over three years into them (the media) trying to wear him out only to have him continually proved that he has more stamina,” writes Stephen Kruiser in PJ Media. “He can do this all day, every day.”
In an interview with Michel Goodwin of the New York Post, President Trump said he was energized by the fight to preserve his presidency.
PARDON MY REPEATING the words of Rep. Adam Schiff, the disgraceful Democrat who chairs the House Intelligence Committee. It’s necessary, because I believe there are still a number of people, who do not realize that the words he read at the opening of the hearing with DNI Joseph Maguire were HIS (Schiff’s), not the president’s.
Schiff wanted the world – and it did go around the world – that the president said, in the manor of a Mafia thug, “I have a favor I want from you though. And I’m going to say this only seven times, so you better listen good. I want you to dig up dirt on my political opponent, understand? … You know what I am asking, so I’m going to say a few times, in a few more ways. And don’t call me again. I’ll call you when you’ve done what I asked.”
Long after the shocking fabrication had left the “loose lips” of Schiff, he admitted it was a parody, something out of an SNL script, not from what was supposed to be a serious hearing. Too late.
However, while succeeding in defaming the President of the United States, he disgraced himself and the House of Representatives.
BERNIE SANDERS IS FINISHED – Not because the chest pains he experienced required the insertion of two stents. Millions of people live comfortably after having two, three and even five stents.
However, I cannot imagine American voters wanting to take a chance on his health. Voters can be fickle. You may recall the media’s reaction to Hillary Clinton’s coughing spells and her collapse while being helped to her SUV during the memorial services for the World Trade Center in 2016.
IF NOT BECAUSE OF HIS HEALTH, voters should be extremely skeptical over his, and Elizabeth Warren’s wealth tax proposals. They continue to tell hopeful supporters that the rich acquire their wealth by “stealing” from the poor and middle class. “Getting rich ‘off the backs of the working man’ has been a Democrat Party theme since the 1960s,” writes Rick Moran in PJ Media.
Over the decades, various tax schemes have been proposed to confiscate wealth from the wealthy, none of which have ever come to pass. Democrats promise the confiscated wealth will make America a paradise on earth – free medical care, free college, not to mention saving the earth from destruction.
There are too many out there who are falling for this nonsense, but it’s just a bill of goods, and most realistic voters realize that in order to pay for their socialistic schemes, they’re going to have to start taxing those who most of us consider a lot less than “rich.”
“Does economic success, which usually, if not always, involves hard work, risk-taking, and creating a product or service that many people find valuably enough to voluntarily pay for, deserve to be punished?” – IRA STOLL, Reason
THE HYPROCRICAL CATHOLIC – I am sick and tired of Nancy Pelosi saying that she prays for the president as she announces efforts to remove him from office. I simply don’t believe it. After all, she supposedly leads the party that routinely fights religious freedoms, and bad-mouth evangelicals.
“I pray for the president all the time. I pray for the safety of his family,” she said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” last Friday. “I also pray that God will illuminate him to see right from wrong. It’s very problematic.”
Remember that Pelosi, who considers herself a “devote, practicing Catholic,” continually ignores the millions of deaths of babies taken with abortions. And, while she was quick to refer to the poor “children in cages” on our Southern border, refusing to admit it was a crisis, and refusing to bring her party to the table to resolve the asylum situation.
BY THE WAY – Did you see Nancy Pelosi’s press conference Wednesday during which she spoke of several issues, including drug prices and the USMC trade deal, issues that she would hope the president would be willing to work with her on before turning the mike over to Adam Schiff to tell of his plan to do in the president? How ludicrous.
That’s like Iran wanting to negotiate with us while declaring “death to America.”
Since the mid-terms, Democrats have been unwilling to work with the president on anything, not willing to give him a win, regardless that they would be good for the country.
CALLING PELOSI’S BLUFF – As I was preparing to publish this edition of my blog, I learned that the president will be notifying Pelosi that the White House will not cooperate with the impeachment proceedings unless she takes a vote of the House to make it an official hearing.
DID YOU HEAR that Apology Joe Biden, struggling to respond to the charges being leveled at him, said, “I’m not going anywhere.” How perceptive.
AND, when I read Rep. Ruben Gallego’s (D-AZ) comment that Vice President Mike Pence campaigning in Phoenix for Sen. Martha McSally was like sending “the bat boy instead of the general manager,” I wondered about Obama’s “bat boy” running for president.
May God continue to bless the United States of America.
