Biden misspeaks, again … the obstruction of justice trap … Kayleigh’s getting under their skin … those polls … Trump in trouble with seniors? … and the most outrageous statement of the day

Here are my observations and opinions from my select news of the day.

POOR JOE – During an online townhall with Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf, presumptive Democrat presidential nominee Joe Biden confused D-Day with the attack on Pearl Harbor, as well as the date that Delaware declared its independence from Pennsylvania, according to Josh Christenson in the Washington Free Beacon.

“We declared our independence on December the 7th.  It’s not just D-Day,” Biden said, confusing the anniversary of Delaware’s break from Pennsylvania – June 15, 1776 – with the state’s December 7, 1787 ratification of the U.S. Constitution.

THE OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE TRAP – Fortunately, I just added former Acting Attorney General Matt Whitaker’s book, “Above the Law: The Inside Story of How the Justice Department Subverted President Trump,” to my research library.

Having noted in The Conservative Tree House, that Whitaker referenced what he calls the “obstruction of justice trap” in an interview he had with Jan Jekielek of Epoch Times, I curiously paged through the book for his explanation.

It reflects on how the Mueller investigation was used by corrupt interests within the special counsel’s office to threaten any and all executive branch and congressional officials with “obstruction of justice” charges if they revealed any exculpatory or counter-narrative information during the Mueller probe.

Any release of information was subject to the threat of indictment by the same corrupt prosecutors leading the investigation.

In September 2017, Rod Rosenstein threatened President Trump not to declassify any information because the Mueller team would cite it as an act of obstruction.

In Whitaker’s description of how the Mueller probe was weaponized, he notes that the “gag order” even applied to those within the DOJ and included the attorney general.

Whitaker has called for Congress to address the authority in the special counsel statute.

KAYLEIGH MCENANY (ap/evanvucci)

GO GET ‘EM KAYLEIGH – The presence and assuredness of Kayleigh McEnany in the White House Briefing Room is so refreshing.  Her recent attack on the press corps for not asking worthwhile questions, got under the skin of the left-leaning Chris Wallace and Jonah Goldberg.

Wallace, who regularly reminds us that he’s been on the Washington scene forever, offered that if she was there back when he and ABC News’ Sam Donaldson were covering the White House, that “would not have gone well.”  So.

Her behavior was “indefensible and grotesque,” according to Goldberg, an anti-Trumper.

For as long as I can remember, White House press secretaries have been asking journalists why they don’t pursue serious questions, even those supporting Democrat presidents.

THOSE POLLS – I frequently call your attention to a poll, but I always add the line … “for what it’s worth.”  After the 2016 polls showing Hillary Clinton would win big, how can we believe anything has changed in pollster fantasyland.

Democrats and their media friends, it is said, are on a high because they think they have finally turned Trump’s base against him, and they’ve turned those narrowly-won states against him.  They’re banking on the belief that Trump will be blamed for the virus and the economic slowdown.

I WAS SURPRISED to read that Kristen Soltis Anderson of the Washington Examiner has been taken in by the polls.  While she concedes to strong showings of seniors in elections, “I am here to tell Republicans that while their struggle with younger voters still remains a critical long-term challenge, an even graver short-term threat has emerged: declining support among older voters.”

She believes Trump should be seeking support from those young voters, who worry about climate change and have a concern for gender, racial, gay and transgender equality.

She claims “the challenge Trump is facing with seniors is very real, and the evidence is mounting,” and seemingly believes Biden leads Trump by 19 points among Michigan seniors.

ANDREA JENKINS (star tribune)

OUTRAGEOUS COMMENT OF THE DAY – During a press conference Thursday covering the aftermath of the protesting, rioting and looting in Minneapolis, Andrea Jenkins, City Council VP – after singing a few bars of Amazing Grace – stated:

“I am asking my colleagues to declare a state of emergency declaring racism as a public health issue.  Until we name this virus, this disease (racism) that has infected America for the past 400 years, we will never, ever resolve this issue.”

While you are aware that America is 243 years old, there are those, like Jenkins, who prefer to claim their heritage to the year when the first Africans landed in Virginia – 1619.

Covering the press conference for The Gateway Pundit, Cristina Laila, said “an entire block in south Minneapolis was set on fire!  Now the city council is trying to declare racism as ‘public health issue.’  Makes sense.”

May God continue to bless the United States of America.
