Years ago, I recall reading about a survey in which Americans believed businesses made on average profits of 36 percent, an estimate supported by years of similar polls by Opinion Research when estimates ranged from 28 to 37 percent.
A recent review of more than 7,000 companies revealed that the average profit margin for all companies was 7.9 percent, and just one industry had a profit margin as high as 36 percent – tobacco at 43.3 percent.… read more

You probably heard the speeches and saw the candlelight vigil commemorating the one-year anniversary of the January 6, 2021 breach of the nation’s Capitol.

Democrat Sen. Elizabeth Warren saw the selection of entrepreneur Elon Musk by Time magazine as its Person of the Year as an opportunity to accuse him of not paying taxes and “freeloading off everyone else.”
Liberals use the “fair share” disinformation in their futile attempt to paint the wealthy as un-American, when they are simply using the tax code to avoid paying more than required, and they hire financial advisors to assist them.… read more

Some 10 years ago, while writing op-eds and letters to editors while living in the conservative Hill Country of Texas, I enjoyed taking on a handful of Democrat contributors to a regular column in the Boerne Star called “Progressive Views.”

If the defendants arrested for involvement in the breaching of the Capitol on January 6, 2021 were charged with insurrection, surely, Attorney General Merrick Garland would know; yet when asked, he said, “I don’t believe so.”

Coincidentally, “Enemies of the State,” was the heading on John Hinderaker’s blog, PowerLine, in which he, too, noted Attorney General Merrick Garland’s decision to go after so-called “domestic terrorists” – parents and grandparents – who are practicing their right of free speech at school board meetings.
While my enemies list refers to enemies of the people, Garland views every day Americans, interested in their children’s education, as enemies of the state.… read more
