A Glimpse of News Emanating from Washington DC Reveals Politics as Usual

Commentary

The headlines alone give you a feel for topics currently on the media agenda, but I’ll give you a little back up to go with them.

The story behind The Spectator headline, “Are Kamala Harris’s days as VP numbered?” delves into the Washington whispers of a cunning plan to shunt Kamala on to the Supreme Court in order to bring in a more popular vice president, someone better prepared to take over should Biden win in 2024.… read more

My February Fool’s Day Recipient and Checking My Stack of Stuff

Commentary

MY FEBRUARY FOOL – While I can usually count on President Biden to take my monthly fool honors with one of his actions, Whoopi Goldberg, moderator for ABC’s The View, gets my dubious recognition for February Fool’s Day.

During a discussion about a novel that depicts the horrors of the Holocaust, Goldberg commented, “Well this is white people doing it to white people, so y’all gonna fight amongst yourselves. … read more

More from My Stack of Stuff

Commentary

WHILE THE DOJ IS SO OBSESSED with domestic terrorism caused by extremist white supremacists that it has formed a special unit equipped with massive resources to address it, they’ve taken their eye off anti-Semitic threats.

Anti-Semitic attacks have grown since the 2018 killing of 11 people in the Tree of Life synagogue shooting in Pittsburgh.… read more

Elizabeth Warren Again Surfaces ‘Profit’ as a Dirty Word

Commentary

Years ago, I recall reading about a survey in which Americans believed businesses made on average profits of 36 percent, an estimate supported by years of similar polls by Opinion Research when estimates ranged from 28 to 37 percent.

A recent review of more than 7,000 companies revealed that the average profit margin for all companies was 7.9 percent, and just one industry had a profit margin as high as 36 percent – tobacco at 43.3 percent.… read more

Part 2: A Year to Dread What’s in Store, or Take Back America

Commentary

In Part 1 of my look ahead, I wrote of the mid-December Axios/Momentive survey revealing that more than half of Americans dreaded what was in store for the country, with a third claiming they were fearful of what 2022 would bring.

A subsequent Axios/Momentive survey, conducted between January 1-3, 2022, revealed that 53 percent of adults view America as more divided today than ever before and likely to continue.… read more

Pelosi Has to Go, But Then You Know That

Commentary

“What it is, it’s outrageous.  Obviously, it cannot continue.  But the fact is that there is an attitude of lawlessness in our country that springs from I don’t know where, maybe you do, and we cannot have lawlessness become the norm.”

That was Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s response to a media inquiry regarding San Francisco Mayor London Breed’s announced plan to crack down on criminal behavior, referencing smash-and-grab robberies and open-air drug use.… read more

The Mess Created Under Biden’s Watch in Just 11 Months

Commentary

I heard someone say recently, ‘Just think, if President Biden hadn’t reversed President Trump’s policies, he would probably be enjoying a 51 percent approval rating rather than a 51 percent disapproval rating.’

The economy under Trump was coming back when Biden put an end to our energy independence by stopping the Keystone pipeline and drilling. … read more

Progressivism is on a Path to Failure in the United States

Commentary

Some 10 years ago, while writing op-eds and letters to editors while living in the conservative Hill Country of Texas, I enjoyed taking on a handful of Democrat contributors to a regular column in the Boerne Star called “Progressive Views.”

One of the regulars on the left blamed conservatives for “befouling the word liberal to the point that many who possess the qualities of a liberal have abandoned the term in favor of the more palatable word – progressive.”… read more

Our Loose Cannon President

Commentary

You may recall the beating former President Trump took in response to his Tweets.  In fact, it has been said that Joe Biden was elected because of the public’s frustration with them.

PRESIDENT BIDEN
(Kevin Cedeno, AP)

Following the August 2020 shooting in Kenosha, Wisconsin, candidate Biden Tweeted, “I don’t know whether that 17-year-old kid, exactly what he did, but allegedly he’s part of a militia coming out of state of Illinois,” suggesting he was a white supremacist.… read more
