Hoyer all talk to action … Rhodes on Obama … Maxine harassed … the ladies of the court … Kennedy retires … Merkel faces test … Trump looking good on border issue and polls … the Harley matter … Crowley gets clock cleaned … and Romney new Utah senator

Here are my observations and opinions n selected news of the day.

Steny Hoyer, all talk no action. (wellsy-wordpress-com)

INTRODUCING REP. STENY HOYER – While he looks as if he stepped out of a central casting audition as an “old pol,” he’s the guy who walks in Rep. Nancy Pelosi’s shadow as the minority whip. Hoyer stooped to the level of his caucus as he commented on the separation of families issue, referring to a president who “tears children from the arms of their mothers” and citing the familiar “that’s not who we are” line.

Well, Steny, you have been in Congress for more than three decades, including service under President Obama, who failed to keep his May 28, 2008, promise to pass immigration reform in his first year in office while you were the Democrat majority leader.

You did help him pass the legislation that President Trump is now struggling with to secure the border, and you are among the obstructionists who put party before country.

BEN RHODES – the Columbia University student of creative writing, who became President Obama’s national security advisor, has emerged from The Swamp and is making excuses for the absence of his boss. He had promised that “O” would be hitting the campaign trail for Democrat candidates facing the midterms.

During an interview on ABC News, it was noted by Monica Showalter of American Thinker that Rhodes hasn’t matured as he referred to the Trump administration as a “cartoon reality show.” Reminiscent of Hillary Clinton’s insulting reference of Trump supporters as “deplorables,” Rhodes said, “the Americans who voted for Trump aren’t serious … they’re idiots and their case is ‘tragic.’”

Maxine Waters: The face of the Democrat party. (conservative101.com)

IT WAS HUMOROUS to see Rep. Maxine Waters experiencing what it’s like to be harassed as she walked to a House elevator. For a few moments, her friends in the media turned the tables on her.

Appearing with a small group of followers recently, Waters shouted, “If you see anybody from that cabinet (Trump’s) in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd, and you push back on them, and tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere.”

Since all of the Democrat leadership, who were contacted by The Federalist to denounce Waters’ call for harassment, we can only assume that they are okay with her as their poster-child for the midterms.

AS YOU MIGHT EXPECT, liberal Supreme Court judges Sonia Sotomayor and Ruth Badar Ginsburg felt the need to voice their dissent following the 5-4 decision favoring President Trump’s travel ban. I won’t bore you with their sappy criticism.

EXPECT MORE CRYING FROM THE LEFT now that Justice Anthony Kennedy has announced his retirement. President Trump has a list of 25 prospective nominees, none of whom will meet their leftist ideological leaning.

GERMANY’S MERKEL IN TROUBLE – You might say President Trump predicted problems for Germany over a year ago. Now, with more than a million migrants impacting that country, Chancellor Merkel is under fire to put a lid on the numbers allowed in or close the border.

BACK ON OUR BORDER – “What’s the point of having immigration laws if the government doesn’t enforce them?” asks Jason Riley in his Wall Street Journal column, “Trump Doesn’t Regret the Border Controversy – Sobbing Kids or No.”

With his policy on the border, Riley believes “the president speaks for more Americans than his critics want to acknowledge when he expresses deep frustration with people who flout immigration laws.”

A 10 PERCENT CLIMB among Hispanics helped President Trump rise to an all-time high of 47 percent approval rating in the Harvard CAPS/Harris poll, up two percent from the previous month. The poll also revealed that 59 percent of Americans approve of the government’s handling of its relationship with North Korea.

THE RASMUSSEN DAILY PRESIDENTIAL TRACKING POLL, the only such poll, ranks President Trump at 45 percent on Wednesday.

HARLEY DAVIDSON’S WOES shouldn’t be interpreted as the beginning of a tariff war. The motorcycle maker has had its ups and downs over the past decade and is actually facing a marketing problem. No doubt, a Harley is a special made-in-America product, but let’s face it, it’s a luxury item, not essential to a person’s well-being. If someone is serious about wanting a Harley, will $2,000 added to the price tag be a deal-breaker?

OOPS – Rep Joe Crowley (D-NY), the fourth highest ranked Democrat who many believed was going to eventually replace Nancy Pelosi as the minority leader, was soundly beaten by a 28-year old Hispanic woman, a socialist. Crowley failed to show up for a debate, while his opponent worked the constituency. Pelosi pooh pooh’d the loss.

MITT ROMNEY handily won in Utah and will be taking the senate seat long held by Orin Hatch. The media has had a field day running the news clips of Romney attacking President Trump. Romney says he will support the president when the issue is in the best interest of Utah and the nation. Why do I have the feeling that he will be another John McCain?

May God bless the United States of America.
